About Us:

1560 The Game - a station that, we believe, has the best sports and entertainment talk in Houston.

As you might imagine, there are many, many stories here - and woven through each is a common dream to build a great radio franchise in Houston.

-          There are 29 Houston investors who have committed to something unique: a locally-owned, locally managed station in an era where nearly every major radio station has been bought by a large conglomerate.

-         There is our GM, Richard Topper who, after 20 years in the business, is finally getting his shot to run a station.  His energy, work ethic, and commitment have enabled us to launch with a great group of charter advertisers.

-         There is John Granato, a popular, successful on-air personality, who has long sought the responsibility to set a station’s lineup.  Having put together a 1560 lineup of Granato, Justice, Hoffman, Harris and Pendergast, Granato has delivered.

-         There are our charter advertisers, those who believed enough in what we are doing that they were willing to commit to us at launch.   We are very, very grateful -- and will not forget their support.

-         And there are our listeners, who will inevitably become core to the story.  Through our website and participation on the air, we look forward to sharing common passions - sports, entertainment, the way the world amuses us - and to creating a community, which we will call The Game.

Our greatest wish now is that you would become part of the Game.   Tune in, call in, explore our website; if you are an advertiser, let us partner with you to build your business.  We look forward to what we will create together.

Regards,

David Gow

Professional

Richard Topper has been in Houston radio since moving here in 1995.  An Ohio native, he worked at radio stations selling locally and nationally in Cleveland, Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio.  He also worked in Chicago two years as the Regional Manager for McGavren Guild Radio, a national radio rep firm.  A graduate of The Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, Topper is a proud Redskin and Phi Delt.

Topper and wife Laura make their home in Fall Creek in Humble.  They have two children, Jack and Grace.  In addition to cheering for Houston's teams and his wife's alma mater (LSU), he is probably the most vocal Reds and Bengals fan in the Houston area.  His final claim to being an athlete is playing softball in Kingwood with 'The Hunchers', a group of friends that also host Texans tailgate parties frequented by 1560 listeners and clients.  The tailgate was a finalist in the HEB Tailgate of the Game contest in 2006.
